Great energy. Great hopes.
Great relief. It was Friday morning. Just like any other software professional
I was eagerly waiting to be Friday. This Friday (20th April 2012) was very
special to me because I had planned to buy a laptop. For years I have been
longing to buy one. But for some reason or the other it got postponed. (Hey,
that doesn't implies i am a procrastinator).
After having a quick brush
and a tasty breakfast i rushed to bus stop. My mind was full of laptops and the
heavy traffic on road didn't get any of my attention. Immediately after
reaching office i started searching for all the major laptops and for their
features. Time flew by. Even during lunch, all my thoughts were converging towards
laptops. Before buying one, I have discussed with lot of friends, relatives and
colleagues for their suggestion. Different people, diversified perspectives,
multiple opinions. But in the end I finalized one.
At around 4 o'clock, my
project manager called our team members for discussing a new project. My mind
was still chasing laptops. The usual scenario started - Project aims,
aspirations, deadlines, challenges, team structure, learning aspects blah blah
blah. By around 5 o'clock meeting was over and I started to Great India Place
(GIP) mall to buy my laptop. In Noida roads are very dusty and climate is very
hot in April. As a result bike journey was tedious and since i was in pillion
seat i kept my eyes closed most of the time to prevent dust particles into my
eyes. The strong winds made by hair appear dry and dusty.
Inside the mall, it was a
bit difficult for me to find out laptop showroom. I purchased a descent model
for 32K (INR – Indian National Rupees) and a net connection for (1.25 K). It
was hard to spend so many bucks, but laptops had a transition from luxury to
necessity in last 8 years. Even college students find laptop as inevitable.
The formalities like address proof, photos, billing etc all took nearly an
hour. I roamed for some time inside the mall, looking eagerly at laptops kept
for displays in other shops. By around 8.30 PM i started back to home. Took Delhi
metro train from Sector-18 to Noida City Center. From there got a
shared auto to Sector-62. And from there had a 2 kilometer walk and finally
reached home at around 10.
Very good. Funny narration. Keep writing
